Aspects of Hearing and Reproduction of Extended Sound Sources and Diffuse Sound Fields
نویسنده
چکیده
A diffuse sound field was created in a reverberation chamber. Broadband impulsive sounds with different temporal density of the impulses were employed. Tests were performed with listeners in the reverberant chamber as well as with the binaural recordings of the reverberant chamber tests. The results of these tests showed a strong lateral concentration of the auditory events when a low temporal density of the impulses was employed. The presentation of the binaural recordings to the subjects over headphones produced qualitatively similar results, although a higher variability was observed. Similar results were obtained for tests performed in an anechoic chamber employing eight uncorrelated sound sources uniformly distributed in an horizontal circle. These results suggest that the lateral concentration of the auditory events evoked by impulsive sounds in a diffuse sound field is an intrinsic characteristic of the human auditory system.

Relationship between Sound Pressure Levels and the Risk of Hearing Loss using Personal Protective Equipment in Manufacturing Industries
Introduction: The sound pressure levels caused by work environment noise, along with the effects and ways of reducing it, are one of the most important issues in the manufacturing industry. Noise is the most common pollutant in the industrial environment, which can cause many disorders in various organs of the body, such as the auditory and vascular systems. This study aimed to investigate the ...
متن کاملEffect of sound classification by neural networks in the recognition of human hearing
In this paper, we focus on two basic issues: (a) the classification of sound by neural networks based on frequency and sound intensity parameters (b) evaluating the health of different human ears as compared to of those a healthy person. Sound classification by a specific feed forward neural network with two inputs as frequency and sound intensity and two hidden layers is proposed. This process...

Objectives: This paper studies the effect of Persian Cued Speech on the perception of Persian language phonemes and monosyllabic words with and without sound in hearing impaired children. Cued Speech is a sound based mode of communication for hearing impaired people that is comprised of a limited series of hand complements and the normal pattern of speech. And it is shown that it effectively ca...
متن کاملNoise pollution analysis in Tehran cement plant
Background : Cement industry has many process units. Basically all of these units can be considered as a source of noise. Since noise pollution is defined based on its offensive hearing effects, the importance of the noise sources depends directly on the number of workers in the unit. Materials and Methods : An experimental study has been done at Tehran cement factory to recogn...
متن کاملPerformance of active feedforward control systems in non-ideal, synthesized diffuse sound fields.
The acoustic performance of passive or active panel structures is usually tested in sound transmission loss facilities. A reverberant sending room, equipped with one or a number of independent sound sources, is used to generate a diffuse sound field excitation which acts as a disturbance source on the structure under investigation. The spatial correlation and coherence of such a synthesized non...
